Andrea Postacchini, Fermo, c.1840

Andrea Postacchini was a self-taught maker and one of the best from the Marches region of central Italy. Though scarce, his work is not only original and recognizable, but also well regarded for fine workmanship and exceptional sound.

This superb violin was made after Postacchini fully developed as a maker, settling on this fine model with strong, flat arches. The instrument has a brilliant varnish with a deep red color and an exceedingly pleasant and complex sound.
