Cello by
Gaetano Sgarabotto
Parma, c.1930
We have seen six Sgarabotto cellos of this model, each of which was an imitation of a different classic Italian maker. Sgarabotto labeled this fine cello as a Joseph Gagliano, though the similarities to that maker are fleeting.
Still, this is a very attractive instrument by all measures. But its most remarkable attribute is its sound, which is rich, full, and powerful with impressive tonal qualities.
