At Reuning & Son Violins, we make a special effort to seek out violins that offer a quality of sound that is normally attainable only at a much higher price. This is one such instrument.

This fine violin made by Andrea Guarneri of Cremona in 1679 likely lost its original top through some accident about 50 years after it was made. Fortunately, the violin was still in Italy at the time, as a new top was crafted for it in nearby Genoa by Bernardo Calcagni, who was the most important maker of that city during the early 18th century. The top is an excellent match and suits the violin both visually and tonally. We look forward to uniting this violin with a discerning artist who seeks a superb Cremonese sound at a reasonable cost.
