Enrico Politi, Turin, c.1940

Enrico Politi trained with his father, Eugenio, in Rome where he was born. After his father’s death in 1909, he continued working in Rome with his brother before moving to Turin. Like several of his contemporaries, such as Vincenzo Sannino, Enrico Politi was primarily occupied with making copies of Italian violins from the 19th and 20th centuries. For this reason, his name is not especially well known despite his enormous productivity.

This violin is a faithful copy of a Scarampella, which boasts a robust and powerful sound typical of Scarampella’s output.
