Tomaso Eberle was born in Austria to a prominent instrument making family. Along with numerous instrument makers from this region, Eberle immigrated to Italy but made it farther south than most. In Naples, he adopted a violin-making style so similar to Nicolo Gagliano’s that his violins have often been mistaken for them, suggesting Eberle may have been a student of Gagliano.
This violin, in near-mint condition, has been the companion of a top-level musician and teacher for many years. It is sure to serve its next custodian just as successfully.
