Viola by

Stefano Scarampella
Mantua, 1910

Despite Stefano Scarampella having been a prolific violin maker, we know of fewer than a dozen violas from his hand. They are generally of a rather small size but tend to sound as full as much larger instruments.

We are privileged to have sold several Scarampella violas over the years, which certainly earned their reputations as instruments of exceptional tonal qualities. This superb example remains in excellent condition and is typical of Scarampella’s output from midway through his working life.
