Violin by

Santino Lavazza
Milan, c.1708

Although the work of Santino Lavazza is rare, we are fortunate to have handled several good violins by this maker over the last several years. His work is comparable to other makers in Milan at the time, such as the members of the Grancino and Testore families, but Lavazza maintained the quality of his output more consistently into the 18th century.

This attractive violin is of modest dimensions but is astonishingly strong and lush in its tonal capacity.
