Violin by

Ferdinand Gagliano
Naples, 1795

This fine Gagliano was sold by Rembert Wurlitzer in 1967 to its present owner who played it with a major orchestra for her entire career. We are honored to be entrusted with finding its next deserving custodian.

Ferdinand Gagliano was the first of four violin-making sons of Nicolo Gagliano. His work more closely resembles that of his uncle Gennaro, however, so it is possible that Ferdinand trained with Gennaro.

This violin is of somewhat small dimensions and has a precise and refined sound.
