Violin by

Enrico Clodoveo Melegari
Turin, 1886

Though Enrico Clodoveo Melegari was trained as a violinist, he probably assisted his father as a cabinet maker before gaining employment in the Genoa and Turin shipyards. With his brother, he established an instrument-making business in Turin and took over the business after his brother died about 1874.

This mature work of Enrico is among the best we have seen. It is built on his distinctive personal model and features a fine orange-red varnish of superb quality.
