Cello by

Stefano Scarampella
Mantua, 1919

While Stefano Scarampella was an extremely productive violin maker during his long lifetime, we know of just ten cellos from his hand. These cellos have superb tonal qualities, having been built on a very successful model, and they exhibit the maker’s characteristic vigorous style of workmanship.

This fine example from late in Scarampella’s life remains in near perfect condition as it has been privately owned in Italy for many years. It has a huge and robust sound that will satisfy the needs of a great artist willing to explore its vast tonal capabilities. We look forward to matching this cello with its next owner.
