Violin by

Mario Bedocchi
Reggio Emilia, 1935

We are always pleased to see a violin by Mario Bedocchi come through our workshop. Bedocchi was a self-taught maker from Reggio Emilia, a city between Parma and Modena. He had a rather healthy output of instruments, over two hundred, and won numerous awards across Italy for his work.

Bedocchi’s instruments are especially appreciated for their excellent sound and their clean, distinctive workmanship. We’ve sold quite a few instruments by Bedocchi over the years, and we are currently offering a fine example from 1935. Built on a graceful personal model in the local tradition, this violin is in near-mint condition.
